Did you know..?

Negative working atmospheres created by bosses are costing billions to companies in the UK. According to recent research carried out by the Hay Group, the financial services industry alone estimates losses of £8.5 billion a year.

The findings were based on more than 850 workers’ ideal working climate compared to their actual environment at work. It was found that 59 per cent of managers fail to bring about a positive working climate, 43 per cent create a de-motivating office atmosphere and 16 per cent only succeed in generating a neutral working environment.

Bearing in mind that 30 per cent of business performance depends on a motivational working climate, maximising staff motivation and discretionary effort is more critical than ever, especially in times of economic uncertainty.

Just for Fun

With summer fast approaching, what could be more cooling than a nice tub of your favourite ice-cream? Whilst you know which flavour you prefer, do you know which one best describes you?

Take the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Flavour Test to find out. The first person to send us the answer will receive a sweet treat from ConsultingTools.

Congratulations to Graham Buck, from Blue Tree Specific Skills, for winning a free Conference Pass to HRD 2008 last month!  Here he is with Dawn at the ConsultingTools Stand.
