Did you know..? According to a recent report, the credit crunch and associated money worries are causing a wave of sleep deprivation across the UK workforce. 22 million British workers (75%) have admitted getting less than the recommended eight hours of sleep each night of the working week. At the top of the professional’s sleep deprivation poll are Estate Agents. The stress of a house price nose dive and slump in the market seems to be taking its toll on these professionals. The next two groups missing most ‘shut eye’ are lorry and taxi drivers- two professions facing rocketing fuel prices. In third position is another economy hit profession- bankers. Builders and accountants complete the top five of the sleep deprivation poll. The study also revealed that the key reasons why 40% of workers often experience difficulty getting sleep are: 1. Worrying about the pressures of work, considering the current financial climate 2. Planning how to make ends meet 3. Leaving work late, resulting in eating late and going to bed late 4. Having an alcoholic drink close to bedtime to help relax 5. Coming home and working again in an attempt to catch up on heavy workload Just for Fun In this month’s newsletter, Ann Lewis talks about her new book entitled Getting Back on track- Regaining your confidence and presence at work.
